Patient and provider platforms, built from scratch
“He spoke with our clinical team like a colleague, not a stakeholder to manage.”
Working with Cliff was my first time working closely with a designer who understood the constraints medical teams operate under. He didn’t just hand us a finished product that resembled the initial request. He took part in every step of the conversation. He worked across both our patient-facing and provider-facing platforms, and the product got better because of it.

The work

The question workshop · 1 hour
Every question customers were already asking, written down, grouped and ranked by how often it came up. The ranking decided the site, not anyone’s opinion of it.

From wireframe to homepage
The top three groups, what TribeHealth is, how it works and what it costs, became the first three sections of the page, in that order.
The clinician platform
A persistent patient list on the left, statuses visible, profile on the right. Care managers move between patients all day, so it’s built for switching, not searching.
Where they were
A care model with no software under it.
When the work started
December 2021: a co-founder reached out. Design work began in early 2022.
Why they needed design
Early design explorations existed, but nothing the clinicians could use. The patient and provider platforms had to be designed from the ground up.
What they were trying to do
Get a first working version into their clinicians’ hands. No launch date, no outside deadline: the constraint was the care team, not the calendar.
How it ran
Four years, four streams of work.
Early 2022
Core screens
Patient list and patient profile, shaped with the founding team, then tested against how the clinicians actually worked.
2022–2024
Weekly product cadence
A standing weekly call turned design needs into tickets: Figma files, PM comments, CTO review, build.
By early 2024
Website
A one-hour question workshop, ranked groups, a wireframe, then designed and built in Webflow.
Throughout
Sales material
An overview deck, one-pagers and supporting material for board meetings and health system conversations.
Result
Everything TribeHealth put in front of people, for four years. The platform clinicians work in, the website patients find, and the decks investors and health systems saw.
In a spot like TribeHealth’s?
- You have the care model, not the product. The expertise is real. The software doesn’t exist yet.
- Your clinicians are the first users. The people who’ll use it every day are down the hall, and nobody has asked them yet.
- Decisions are fast, but there’s no design seat.Founders can approve in a day. There’s just no one to bring them something to approve.
Thirty minutes on the workflow your users work around.
